Vision & Mission

Vision of the CCFD-Solidarity Earth, the SIDI and their partners

A society in which food sovereignty is assured within local spaces (territories or daerah) which are given value and which are in solidarity with each other. This will result from a strategic choice of all the local social and political forces in favour of a transition in favour of a peasant agro-ecology, essential element of a democratic governance of local resources and sustainable food systems towards an inclusive and harmonious development of local spaces / territories. This food sovereignty can be achieved through:

Public policies which sustain and support these strategic choices.MissionIn order to make that vision a reality, the CCFD Solidarity Earth, the SIDI and their partners – in synergy with other players and allies both in the North and in the South – develop a dynamic mobilisation and a strengthening of civil societies for a transition towards peasant agro-ecology for food sovereignty. The players involved are actively engaged in advocacy networks on national and international level in favour of peasant agro-ecology and food sovereignty.

They mobilise public opinion and dialogue, or even confront, governments and companies in order to reach these transition objectives. The transition consists of support to economic and social local initiatives to show their economic, social and environmental benefits, and not only through the accompaniment of producers toward a production system which uses the optimisation of ecological processes in nature.

These initiatives help to comprehend, to adopt and to diffuse peasant agro-ecology on a larger scale and for all (producers, consumers, commerce, donors, authorities and administrations, etc.).

They also help organisational set-ups and democratic resource management in these territories. They contribute in this manner to the promotion of alternative food systems necessary to counteract the challenge of hunger in the world. We identify the following levers:

Advocacy in the direction of political decision makers on agricultural and land public policies in favour of peasants.
